Get involved in ECBS

Find out how to join us, access further information, or support our activities.

Join us

If you are a scholar based in the north of the UK and want to become a member, please contact us on buddhist.studies@ed.ac.uk to enquire. We also welcome local members who represent practitioner communities, or have independent research interests in Buddhist Studies, including through curatorial work.

If you are interested in joining ECBS as a new member of the University of Edinburgh then there are a variety of possible routes:

  • For prospective postgraduate students, take a look at the Study page for information about our Masters in Buddhist Studies, and PhD opportunities here.
  • For postdoctoral work, we support applicants through the major schemes such as the British Academy Postdoctoral Fellowship and Leverhulme Early Career Fellowship. Contact a potential mentor at the University of Edinburgh to enquire. See our Members list for options.
  • We welcome visiting scholars, both informally and through the various formal schemes at the University and via external funding. Contact a potential collaborator or use the ECBS email to enquire.

Keep informed

If you aren't eligible to become a member but want to be kept informed of our events, the best option is to join either UKABS or H-Buddhism, where we post information about events that are open to non-members.

If you are a school teacher and want to be kept up to date with our Schools Outreach activities, contact us on buddhist.studies@ed.ac.uk to be added to our mailing list.

Support us

Since our very beginning we have been generously supported by a series of grants from the Khyentse Foundation. We are always looking for further partners to help us deliver our key goals. In particular, we are working to improve access to Buddhist language learning, an ambitious project that will require external funding and support. If you are interested in discussing opportunities to support us, please contact us on buddhist.studies@ed.ac.uk
